Textual Analysis for an existing school magazine
Child in centre of the screen – she is going to feature in the magazine, and it builds association immediately
Background is ou
t of focus, so we do not pay much attention
to it, its not important to us
Eye contact being made with the camera – yet again builds an
immediate association with the main focus of the magazine
Can make out a book at the bottom of the screen – can tell it’s
something education related
Abstract font used in masthead, looks handwritten as if it is
schoolwork. Almost has a relaxed feel to it
More organised font used in article headings, lots of
straight lines used. Looks very ordered and formal to show it is an actual
magazine
Barcode visible in the bottom left – shows an easy way to get
a hold of the magazine
so we can clearly tell the subject of the magazine
Students can be seen smiling so we can see that they are happy
to be at the school
Different font colours used for the articles so they can
stand out more and our attention is dragged to them
Trees used as a backdrop for the masthead – could show that
the school supports the environment
No students looking at the camera, all talking to each other
– brings a relaxed, regular feel to the magazine
